Seniors invited to free Royal Hawaiian Band concert at Manoa Valley Church
Manoa, HAWAII - Strike up the band! The Manoa Valley Church will host the Royal Hawaiian Band in a special concert on Friday, October 19 at 9:30 a.m. in the sanctuary. The free concert is open to the public and will feature music especially for seniors.
While Hawaiian music is the heart and soul of the Royal Hawaiian Band, the Band also performs American tunes and songs from around the world. The Royal Hawaiian Band is the only band in the United States with a royal legacy.
Once known as the “King’s Band,” it was founded in 1836 by order of King Kamehameha III. The Royal Hawaiian Band is one of the last living links to the Hawaiian monarchy, and is currently an agency of the City and County of Honolulu.
The church’s Senior Ministry is presenting this special performance. Manoa Valley Church (United Church of Christ) is located at 2728 Huapala Street, across from Manoa Marketplace and behind Starbucks.
