KAPOLEI, Hawaii - It's been 15 years since the last fatal shooting of a Hawaii police officer. Officer Glen Gaspar of the Honolulu Police Department worked in the Criminal Investigations Division when he and his unit were dispatched to a Kapolei store in 2003, staking out an armed suspect connected to a prior shooting.

According to the Honolulu Police Department, Gaspar wrestled the gunman to the ground and was shot three times during the struggle. More than a decade later, Gaspar's wife and two daughters say the hurt never fully goes away.

Before he died, Gaspar served 12 years with the police force in the gang detail and the career criminal unit.
