HONOLULU (KITV) - In honor of Officer Bronson K. Kaliloa, we are commemorating the past fallen officers of Hawaii that were killed from gunshots.

Many were killed while trying to stop robberies or arrest suspects.

These officers bravely served Hawaii both on and off duty.

  • Deputy Sheriff Daniel Browne-Sanchez

    • shot and killed while trying to stop a robbery while off duty

  • Officer Glen Alvin Gaspar

    • shot and killed while trying to arrest a murder suspect at a local ice cream store

  • Officer Troy Louis Barboza 

    • shot and killed by a drug suspect that he had previously arrested

  • Officer David Nicholas Ronk

    • killed while attempting to serve a court order, where the suspect gained control of the officer's weapon and shot him

  • Officer Larry James Stewart

    • killed while responding to an unruly customer at a nightclub, where the suspect gained control of the officer's revolver and shot him

  • Officer Ernest G. Lindemann 

    • killed while escorting a woman to retrieve her belongings from her home where her husband gained control of the officer's weapon and shot him

  • Officer Bradley N. Kaanana 

    • shot and killed by a sniper who was shooting tourists and officers from Pali Lookout

  • Lieutenant Benedict Eleneki 

    • shot and killed while responding to robbery

  • Officer Andrew R. Morales 

    • shot and killed while on a burglary stake-out

  • Officer Abraham E. Mahiko 

    • shot and killed while on a burglary stake-out

  • Officer William K. Kama 

    • shot and killed while attempting to break up an argument

  • Officer Manuel D. Abreu 

    • shot and killed by a sexual assault suspect

  • Officer John W. Mahelona 

    • shot and killed by a chicken thief
