KAKAAKO, Hawaii - The City did a complete sweep of the encampment Monday night.

City crews were out enforcing both park rules and sidewalk ordinances at Kaka'ako Gateway Park, Waterfront Park, Kewalo Basin, and neighboring parks.

These areas are currently managed by the Hawaii Community Development Authority, HCDA, but they have given the right of entry to the city and to police city regulations.

Garrett Kamemoto, interim executive director of HCDA, believes that having one agency be in charge of both sides will benefit the public.

HCDA is also in talks to permanently transfer some land in Kaka'ako Makai, including all parks, to the City.

A decision is expected at Wednesday's board meeting.
