Celebrity Real Estate: Chris Rock, Sting, Ron Howard
Kevin Liptak, Elise Labott and Zachary Cohen, CNN - Sentimental Sale For Comedian Chris Rock
It's a pretty fabulous bachelor pad, but 25 years after Chris Rock plunked down some of the fresh cash he was earning as a new star on "Saturday Night Live" back in the 1990s, it's finally time to let it go.
Rock has listed his beloved rooklyn carriage house for $3.85 million. The 3-bedroom, 2.5 historic abode dates back to 1901 and features open-beamed ceilings, huge open dining and living rooms, a mammoth master suite, air conditioning and a private garage.
The comedian has long lived in New Jersey, however, and is too busy to make use of the place. Despite his emotional attachment to the property, and after years of renting it out, Rock is ready to part with it. But it is with sweet sorrow, he says.
Sting Says 'Encore' For His NYC Penthouse
Parting may not be sweet sorrow for Sting and his wife, Trudy Styler, when it comes to their slick and sensational NYC duplex penthouse. The singer/composer and former frontman for The Police and Styles have already been eyeing a bigger, better condo in Manhattan.
So, to prepare for moving on up to 220 Central Park South, Team Sting has listed the 5,417-square-foot apartment at 15 Central Park West for $56 million. That's about $26 million more than they paid for it two years ago. And why not? This IS, after all, NYC. Besides, the place has been gussied up a bit: Winding staircase; Fibonacco-spiral fireplace; 10-foot windows overlooking Central Park.
Ron Howard Continues To Downsize
A few years after selling their sprawling Connecticut estate where they raised their kids, Ron Howard and his wife are now looking to divest from their Manhattan apartment. Call them "Empty Cocooners."
The actor and Academy Award-winning director had listed the 3-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom co-op in the famous El Dorado apartment building for $12.5 million. However, after several weeks on the market, the price --reduced twice so far -- is currently listed for sale for $11.5 million.
The unit is, of course, beautifully appointed and sports pretty spectacular city views out of most every room. And then there's the allure of the prewar, Art Deco building itself. Other celebrities who have owned in the El Dorado include Bruce Willis, Alec Baldwin, Faye Dunaway and Michael J. Fox.
