HONOLULU - A civil lawsuit against former Honolulu Police Chief Louis Kelaoha and his wife Katherine, a deputy city prosecutor, is on a four-month hold as a criminal case against them continues.

A judge on Monday issued the hold on Gerard Puana's lawsuit, which accuses the Kealohas of malicious prosecution.

The couple pleaded not guilty to charges they framed Puana for stealing their mailbox.

In the criminal case prosecutors want the Kealohas' attorney, who's also representing them in the civil suit, disqualified.
