GEORGIA (WGCL) - The search is on for a man accused of brutally beating and sexually assaulting a woman who had just walked her child to a bus stop.

The alleged incident happened on October 7 at about 7 a.m. inside a unit at Centennial Park Apartments on Luckie Street in northwest Atlanta.

Police obtained surveillance video of the man leaving the apartment building after the attack.

The victim told police she left her apartment door unlocked and walked her child to the school bus. When she returned home, a stranger was inside her home. He allegedly kicked her in the head, dragged her to the ground, punched her in the face and then tried to choke her. During the struggle, he stripped off her clothes and forced himself on her sexually, police said.

The victim fought back but sustained several injuries to her legs, arms and face, police said. She managed to fight off the attacker and called for help.

On Thursday, police released a sketch of the attacker, based on the victim's description.
