HILO, Hawaii - Big Island Mayor Billy Kenoi's theft trial continued Wednesday in Hilo with several witnesses taking the stand, which included Kenoi.

The mayor broke down in tears several times during his testimony while talking about his simple, but treasured, childhood in Kalapana -- family values that helped shape his identity and becoming mayor.

At 11:55 a.m., presiding judge Dexter Del Rosario called for a recess in the middle of the mayor's testimony.

Earlier in the day, the defense called three witnesses to the stand that were linked to some of the 15 purchases in question that were made during the alleged misuse of Kenoi's Pcard.
