HONOLULU - Calling call keiki with dreams of becoming a lifeguard or who are just looking for a way to have fun in the water this summer.  The Junior Lifeguard Program kicks off soon.  The program includes a week long training course - and at the end, students will compete in the O'ahu Junior Lifeguard championships.
The goal: teach young people skills to save lives and encourage them to pursue a career in ocean safety.
 
The program is free.  Children between the ages of 12-17 can sign up.  They must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and must know how to swim. After the completion of the five summer sessions, participants will compete in the O'ahu Junior Lifeguard Championships.

Locations:      Ala Moana Regional Beach Park, 'Ehukai Beach Park, Kalama Beach Park and Makaha Beach Park
Dates:             June 13-17, June 20-24, June 27- July 1, July 11-15, and July 18-22
