Maleko McDonnell anchors Good Morning Hawaii from 4:30 AM to 7 AM, Monday through Friday.

Maleko grew up in Kailua, on the Windward side of Oahu, and graduated from St. Louis School.  He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communications, Broadcast Journalism from Northwest Missouri State University.

Maleko joined KITV's News team in 2016, after spending 20 years in radio at iHeartMedia. As a radio announcer, on Star 101.9-FM, Maleko won the Honolulu Star-Bulletin's People’s Choice Award for Best Radio Personality in 2006. Maleko was the first radio announcer to break into programming and provided non-stop coverage following an early morning earthquake and the resulting island-wide power outage in 2006. When Oahu’s power grid failed again in 2008, Maleko was on-air from the start providing radio coverage throughout the event.

A recognized social media influencer, Maleko brings his considerable marketing expertise to the table for clients, locally and globally. Maleko hosts a weekly podcast on the iHeartRadio network, interviewing local business leaders, experts, and musical guests. He also appears regularly as the master of ceremonies for local events. Maleko is the official race announcer and voice of the Honolulu Marathon Association and is the co-owner and co-producer of the internationally famous "Le Dîner en Blanc - Honolulu," in its 6th year in 2019.

In addition to his work, Maleko enjoys community theatre and is a multi-awarded Po’okela Award winner, appearing most recently in Manoa Valley Theatre’s critically acclaimed production of “Shipment Day” and the Off-Broadway hit show “Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding.”
