Hokule'a crew spreading aloha in Cape Town, South Africa
HONOLULU - The Hokule'a crew members and a delegation of Hawaii students donated thousands of desks to a South Africa school.
They presented 50 of the 1,000 desks that are expected to be delivered by early next year.
The donation of desks is part of a campaign to provide 20 million desks to 20 million children by 2020.
After the presentation, the Ke Ka o Makalii offered hula and mele, then students from the Cape Town school followed in their own song and dance.
Hokule'a arrived in Cape Town Saturday and is the last stop the crew will be making in South Africa. They are expected to be dry-docked for the next two weeks before departing for South America.
