8 homeless after fire burns Wahiawa home
WAHIAWA, Hawaii - Fire crews were called the scene of a 2-story house fire in Wahiawa Tuesday. The house is on Olive Street and it was engulfed in flames when crews arrived.
Two toddlers and their mother were home at the time of the fire. The children escaped with no injuries. The mother was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
"From one room it took seconds to spread out," said neighbor Kordael Dixon
Fire officials say the house is now unlivable. The America Red Cross is helping the family with food, shelter and clothing.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. It took nearly 30 firefighters and 8 companies to extinguish the flames.
"It's probably a total loss. The upstairs is collapsed, it's harder for us to get inside to get it completely extinguished," said HFD Battalion Chief
