Pedestrian dies after being struck by a car in Nanakuli
Police say a vehicle was heading eastbound on Farrington Highway when it struck the 32-year-old woman who was from Nanakuli.
Following the incident, Honolulu police say the westbound lanes on Farrington Highway in Nanakuli were closed at Mohihi Street. The initial announcement was made just before 9 a.m. The lanes were reopened just before 11 a.m.
The woman who was hit was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition where she later died. It's unclear if the woman was in a crosswalk.
Police say the 22-year-old male driver is from the Waianae area. They are investigating whether speed was a factor in the crash.
