HPD officer hit by SUV while directing traffic in Kalihi area

KALIHI, Hawaiʻi (KITV4) — A Honolulu Police Department (HPD) officer is in serious condition after being hit by a vehicle early Sunday morning in the Kalihi area.

According to HPD, the officer was on the road directing traffic when he was struck by a Nissan SUV around 5:44 a.m. The Nissan was being driven by a 23-year-old woman, police said.

Emergency Medical Services transported the officer to Queen’s Medical Center. An update on his condition has not yet been released.

The HPD press release stated that speed, alcohol, and drugs did not appear to be factors in the collision. No arrests or citations have been issued.
