0 new COVID-related deaths, 79 new infections recorded in Hawaii, DOH reports

Hospitals notice a difference in Covid patients

HONOLULU -- The Hawaii State Department of Health Hawaii (DOH) reported no new deaths related to COVID-19 and 79 new infections on Tuesday. The total number of deaths remains at 962.

Statewide test positivity over the last seven days is 1.8% -- Honolulu County is 1.5%, Hawaii County is 3.0%, Maui County is 1.4%, and Kauai County is 4.3%.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 85,218 total infections to date.

The new infections on each island stands as follows:

  • Oahu: 33
  • Hawaii Island: 21
  • Maui: 5
  • Kauai: 16
  • Molokai: 0
  • Lanai: 0

There were four new cases reported from out-of-state visitors.

There have been 1,526 COVID cases reported in the last 14 days and 4,833 cumulative hospitalizations – 71.9% of the population is fully vaccinated and 82.6% of state residents have had at least one dose. Nearly 115,000 residents have also received their COVID-19 booster shot. 

The percentage of completed vaccinations per county stands as follows:

  • Honolulu County: 74%
  • Hawaii County: 67%
  • Maui County: 65%
  • Kauai County: 67%
