The US Navy held a town hall in Moanalua Tuesday evening to answer questions from residents without water. The navy reports it has not pinpointed the source of the odor, but said test results could come in as early as Wednesday.

Crews with the U.S. Navy continue to investigate why tap water at some Oahu homes that use its water have a fuel-like smell.

The Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) said they're Violet Snails. They eat man-o-war and create a raft of bubbles in order to float. Their shells are very thin and brittle. DLNR says recent high winds likely blew a number of these snails onshore.
