Many of us celebrate the holiday season with gifts, family, food and fun. Unfortunately, the holiday season is not so bright for many families in Hawaii.
The simplest things can make a tremendous difference for those in need.
Since 2000, “Adopt-A-Family” has become one of KITV4 Island News most successful public service campaigns, with the assistance of Helping Hands Hawaii and local businesses.
Helping Hands Hawaii identifies local families in need. KITV4 Island News shares their stories on-air in KITV4 Island News at 6 p.m. and in Good Morning Hawaii throughout the holiday season to ask the community for their donations to help “adopt” a family.
Participants can donate clothes, household items, toys or cash to help make the holiday special for each family.
In 2020, the Adopt-A-Family program made the holiday season happier for more than 400 families (1,600 individuals) in our community.
