Man killed in overnight shooting in Wai'anae, suspect arrested

HAWAII (KITV4) -- An argument led to a deadly shooting on O'ahu's west side early Friday morning. One suspect has been arrested.

The incident happened just after 2:20 a.m. on Hakimo road in Wai'anae, according to Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The two men were yelling at each other just before the shooting took place, police said.

“The victim got into an argument with the suspect. The suspect shot the victim and the suspect fled to a nearby residence,” said Lt. Deena Thoemmes with HPD’s CID Homicide Division.

When first responders arrived they found the victim, only identified as a 37-year-old man, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Rescuers tried to revive the man before he was taken to Wai'anae Coast Comprehensive Health Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

Thoemmes said investigators soon identified the suspect and arrested that person just before 5 a.m. and taken to the Kapolei Police Station. Just before 3:30 p.m., police identified the suspect as 42-year-old Amador Borce.

Borce is facing a complaint of second-degree murder, according to police.
