A man who was trapped in a mine shaft for two days is now out and safe. The man fell 100 feet down into the shaft, about 90 miles northwest of Phoenix. CALIFORNIA - A dog park is closed after a World War II era practice-bomb was found at the site. The park is in Hollister and was once a navy training area for torpedo bombers. The Pacific trash vortex is as big as Texas

Crew members from the Arctic Sunrise docked in Honolulu yesterday, sharing their findings on their expedition to the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. That's between Hawaii and California and its as big as the state of Texas. During the trip they found 11 times more micro-plastics in the patch than any major US city. Most of it comes from branded plastics like Coca Cola bottles. The Greenpeace Organization plans to do a beach clean up on Kahoolawe, later this week.

Lyft is taking its monthly subscription experiment nationwide. The ride-hailing company is launching its all-access plan. Riders with this subscription pay $299 every month for 30-rides worth up to $15 each. That's a savings of up to 5 dollars per ride. If a ride costs more, the rider pays the difference. Lyft has been tinkering with subscriptions since earlier this year.
