A magnitude 7-point-nine-- quake off the Aleutian islands EARLIER TODAY--sent residents THERE scrambling for higher ground after a tsunami warning was issued for coastal areas from Alaska to Oregon. A resident in Alaska describes the moment it hit. SOT LAYTON LOCKETT, CITY MANAGER, ADAK, ALASKA PHONER: "FELT A VERY LARGE BUILDING MOVING AROUND, SO CONSIDERING THE LENGTH AND DURATION AND INTENSITY , WE WOULD SAY WE FELT THAT" About half of Adak's 300 plus residents headed uphill to shelter WELL above sea level. More than a dozen aftershocks have been reported so far....no damage in and around the epicenter. All tsunami advisories have since been cancelled. Aloha Hawai'i...Trade showers expected to pick up windward and mauka tonight, and continue into early tomorrow morning. Right now, just a few sprinkles over much of the state, a little more active over the kona side of the big island, expecting this to start to taper off after sunset tonight.
