The National Hurricane Center is now tracking Hurricane Norbert in the Eastern Pacific.
As of 5 a.m. Friday, Norbert was about 140 miles west of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. It is moving toward the northwest near 8 mph. This general motion is expected to continue through Sunday. The center of Norbert is expected to move nearly parallel to and just offshore of the Pacific Coast of Southern Baja California Peninsula through the weekend.
Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 90 mph with higher gusts. Little change in intensity is expected on Friday, but some weakening should begin on Saturday.
Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 35 miles from the center. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 140 miles from the center.
A hurricane warning is in effect for Santa Fe to Cabo San Lazaro.
