Marie continues to weaken as a tropical storm in the Eastern Pacific, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Marie is not only bringing surf to Southern California, but it is also bringing a high surf advisory for east shores of Hawaii
As of 5 a.m. Thursday, Marie is about 861 miles west of Punta Eugenia, Mexico. Marie is moving toward the northwest near 15 mph. This general motion with a decrease in forward speed is expected to continue for the next couple of days.
Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 45 mph with higher gusts. Gradual weakening is forecast for the next 48 hours. Marie is expected to become a post-tropical cyclone by Thursday night.
Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 185 miles from the center.
