KAHULUI, Hawaii -

A Kahului homeowner says lightning hit her home while Tropical Storm Flossie hit Maui Monday evening.

Fire crews responded to Kipapa Place just after 6:17 p.m.

Fire officials say there was a hole 10-inches in diameter in the roof and through the gable end of the back of the two-story house.

No one was injured.  Damage was estimated at $1,000.

Homeowner Uilani Endo describes what happened when the lightning struck.

"I have to get out of this part of the house and go to Dad," said Endo. "At the same time, the house is shaking and then hear 'crash!'" said Endo.
