A newly released report from the Climate Prediction Center further indicates that an El Nino is likely developing and could bring some major changes to our weather.
El Nino or the warming of the central and eastern equatorial Pacific waters is something for surfers and surf watchers to look forward to, but there's other effects that are not so exciting.
Surfers may be in for larger surf from Mother Nature however the effects of this developing El Nino will mostly be negative. Drought conditions will be possible along with an increased risk for hurricanes.
The Central Pacific Hurricane Center is predicting an above average hurricane season with four-seven storms due to the expected El Nino conditions. With hurricane season already underway the National Weather Service in Honolulu advises you to get a plan and prepare now.
