Breezy winds blowing through the state

15-to-25-mph winds with higher gusts expected into Monday night

HONOLULU -

The National Weather Service says the easterly winds are blowing at around 15-to-25-miles per hour with higher gusts through most of the state Monday.

On Oahu, the strong winds appear to be responsible for a tree that went down on a road near the lookout at the Nu'uanu Pali State Wayside.

The tree went down on the road heading to the lookout from Honolulu-bound lanes on the Pali Highway just before 10 a.m.  The tree was quickly removed from the roadway.

Forecasters say the breezy winds are expected to last into Monday night.  By Tuesday, the easterly winds should ease up a bit at around the 10-to-20-mile-per-hour range.
