Up the street, Terry Cook had his pump going for hours at his house. He had to clear over six inches of water from his garage as well.
His Hauula home sits at a low point in the road, so when the latest storm started he was ready to react to the rains.
"We prepare as best as we can with sandbags, pumps and a lot of towels for mopping up," said Cook.
After the Cook home was fortified against flood waters, all the family could do was wait for the water to recede and keep an eye on the sky for more winter storms.
"When them big rains come, we take cover," said Cook.
In one day, the Hauula area received over five inches of rain.
Other Windward Oahu areas also had plenty of yards filled with water, while a few homes or buildings were flooded enough that emergency crews were called in to help.
