The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for eastern shores of the main Hawaiian islands through Sunday.
The rough and choppy surf will be rising on east-facing shores to 6-to-9-feet-tall.
Wave heights are expected to rise Friday night and and remain elevated through the weekend.
Forecasters say to expect strong breaking waves and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.
