The city's Department of Emergency Management says the high surf advisory has been extended until 6 p.m. Saturday.
The high surf advisory is for east facing shores of all islands.
Forecasters say a long fetch of trade winds near and east of the islands will maintain rough and choppy surf along east facing shores.
The surf on east facing shores are 6-to-8-feet-tall, measuring the front of the wave.
You should expect strong breaking waves, shore break and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.
