Wet weather continued to drench the Hawaiian Islands on Thursday. Forecasters issued a flash flood warning for Windward Oahu until at least 1 p.m. and flash flood watches for Kauai Niihau until 4 p.m.

Officials closed Kaaawa and Hauula elementary schools and Kahuku High and Intermediate School on Thursday because of the wet weather, which has also closed Kamehameha Highway at Waikane.

The NWS warned people to move to higher ground, stay away from streams and low lying areas prone to flooding.

Thursday's rains add to the already soggy conditions and flooding from Wednesday. The ground has already been inundated and cannot absorb the new precipitation.
