Officials Forecast 25-Foot North Shore Waves

The National Weather Service issued a high surf warning for parts of the Hawaiian Islands through Sunday night.

The warning is for the north- and west-facing shores of Niihau, Kauai and Oahu. The warning is also for the north-facing shores of Maui.

The waves on the north shores should go from 15-20 feet on Friday night to at about 25-30 feet by Saturday afternoon, according to forecasters. They said the waves on the west shores should hit about 8-12 feet on Friday night and get as high as 18-24 feet on Saturday.

Officials said the surf should gradually decline on Sunday.
