Tropical Depression Jova is degenerating rapidly in waters northeast of Hawaii.

As of 5 p.m. Friday, Jova was located 345 miles northeast of Hilo, moving northwest at 9 mph, with sustained winds of 35 mph.

The Central Pacific Hurricane Center expects Jova to continue weakening rapidly as it continues northwest away from the islands. It may be a tropical depression as soon as Friday night.

Forecasters are now watching Tropical Storm Kenneth, 1,400 miles east-southeast of Honolulu. It is moving westward at 5 mph. As of now, forecasters don't expect any effects from Kenneth on Hawaii's weather for another week.
