Forecasters with the National Weather Service kept just Maui County under a wind advisory on Wednesday afternoon.

Winds whipped through the islands for several days, blowing a solar panel off a Manoa home and causing an outage in lower Kalihi.

Winds blew over the islands at about 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph, forecasters said.

A utility pole found leaning on Piikoi Street early on Wednesday morning may have been weakened by the strong winds. Police closed the roadway while crews repaired the pole.

Forecasters warned that motorists with high-profile vehicles should be careful when driving during the windy conditions. They said the winds could cause falling branches and more outages.

The National Weather Service also issued a gale warning for the waters around the state. They forecast 35 knot winds through the day.

The summits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa on the Big Island are also under a winter weather advisory. The conditions are right for freezing rain to create icy roads, forecasters said.
