Big Island's North Side Hit By Earthquakes

Earthquakes As Large As 4.5 In Magnitude Hit Big Island

The United States Geological Survey reported an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.5 hit the Big Island of Hawaii at 6:29 p.m. on Monday.

The quake was felt in many areas including Honokaa and the Hamakua Coast.

Another 1.9 magnitude earthquake hit 10 miles northwest of Lapahoehoe at 6:38 p.m., the USGS said.

Big Island Civil Defense said there are no reports of damage or injuries.

No tsunami warnings or advisories have been issued.
