A statewide flash flood watch went into effect Tuesday and it didn't take long for downpours to follow.

Rain poured over the Likelike Highway at about 8:30 p.m. causing a truck to crash into a guard rail, KITV reported.

Authorities said the driver lost control of his vehicle due to the wet weather.

Officials reported no serious injures.

Rain also down poured over the Pali Highway causing drivers to drive cautiously.

The statewide flash flood watch is set to last into late Thursday night.

Kauai officials closed Wailua Golf Course for the rest of Wednesday because of the rain and wind that have caused unsafe conditions at the golf course. Officials will decide on Thursday whether to reopen the course.

Forecasters also issued a wind advisory for Kauai. Winds of 20 mph to 35 mph could blow over the Garden Isle.

The summits of the Big Island are under a high wind watch and a winter storm watch. Gusts up to 50 mph could sweep over Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea. Forecasters expect snow to fall on the peaks.

A flash flood watch means that conditions could develop and lead to flash flooding.

Forecasters want campers and hikers to pay particular attention to forecasts, stay away from streams and flood-prone areas.
