Power Outage Safety Tips

Hawaiian Electric Co. released some safety tips they said people should take to ensure safety during outages.

  • People who are dependant on electric life supporting medical equipment should make arrangements for backup power or go to a medical facility.
  • Do not touch low hanging or fallen lines. Do not assume you can tell the difference between telephone and power lines.
  • Stay clear of puddles near downed lines.
  • Turn off and unplug sensitive electronics like computers.
  • If your power is out, keep your refrigerator and freezer closed.
