Dolphin stampede

Sightseers got way more than what they asked for when a pod of about 1,000 dolphins raced through the waters off Dana Point in California.

Passengers, aboard the Dolphin Safari tour boat, were awestruck at the breathtaking sight. Many giggled in delight as they watched the playful dolphins sprung from the blue-gray waters and swam swiftly to keep pace with their boat.

The rare phenomenon was even captured by an underwater camera, where the frolic dolphins were seen romping and gliding towards the boat like wild horses.

"They are coming towards us! I can't believe this. This is a shot of a lifetime," a tourist cried out.

Capt. Dave Anderson said that in his long years of sailing the South California waters, he hardly ever see dolphins in stampede.

The dolphin's video has been viewed nearly 250,000 times on YouTube.
