Former University of Hawaii star wide receiver Davone Bess was released Wednesday by the Cleveland Browns, according to ESPN.
Bess, 28, joined the Browns via a trade from the Miami Dolphins and signed a three-year extension that gave him a guaranteed $5.75 million.
However, some say his performance on the field was lacking and had trouble off the field. Last month, he was charged with assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct after an incident at the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport.
Bess also posted a photo on Instagram that showed what appeared to be a cigar and a brownish green substance in a bag. The photo was eventually deleted."
