Nana Ohkawa joined KITV4's news team as a reporter in August 2012.
She got her start as a one-man-band reporter. She shot, wrote, and edited her own stories for FOX 11 in Reno, Nevada. During her years in Nevada she was one of the lead reporters in several major stories from wildfires, President Obama's visits, Vice President Joe Biden's visits, and the Air Race crash.
After finding the right spot at a rally to get an interview with Sarah Palin, she caught the bug for getting exclusives and scoops. Her goal is to always deliver clear and accurate news of the day for KITV's viewers.
Nana gained her first experience in TV news as an intern at CBS5 and KTVU in San Francisco. She received a full scholarship to attend the University of California, Berkeley as a UC Berkeley Incentive scholar. She knew a job that could serve others in the community was the right job for her.
Nana says her favorite perks of the job so far are emceeing the March of Dimes fundraiser, and hosting a telethon that raised $63,000 for her favorite non-profit, the SPCA.
When Nana's not out chasing a story you can find her enjoying the outdoors. She loves hiking, golfing, learning how to surf, and seeking out new adventures.
