For 38 years, the Queen Lili`uokalani Keiki Hula Competition has been held to honor the memory of Hawaii's last Queen.
KITV4 is proud to have broadcast the Competition since 1996, bringing Hawaii's families a beautiful, heart-warming TV event that's become a summertime tradition.
The Kalihi-Palama Culture and Arts Society has made it possible for thousands of Hawaii's keiki to demonstrate their talent in the traditional artform of hula.
In August, our statewide audience will enjoy the unique hula talents. Both the boys and girls in traditional kahiko competition will air on Friday, Aug. 1 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.; in comtemporary 'auana style on Saturday, Aug. 2 from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday's feature will also highlight the solo competitions for Miss Keiki Hula and Master Keiki Hula.
There will be a rebroadcast on MeTV on Oceanic Cable Digital Channel 126 and over-the-air digital on 4.2 on Monday, Aug. 4 and Tuesday, Aug. 5 in primetime.
Keiki Hula 2014 will be hosted by KITV4 News anchor Paula Akana.
