2 Major Travel Sites Give Honolulu High Marks

Hotel Rates Go Down 24 Percent

Honolulu visitors this 4th of July weekend are finding great deals on hotels.

According to data from the travel Web site, Orbitz.com, room rates have dropped as much as 24 percent from last year and are now averaging $138 a night.

The city is also the fourth most popular destination for the holiday, according to the Web site. Las Vegas took the top spot for travelers on the 4th of July, with Chicago and New York taking the second and third spots, officials said.

A new survey on the best and worst cities by the travel site, Tripadvisor.com, ranked Honolulu as the most romantic city in the country. The survey also rates Portland as the cleanest city and New York as the most expensive city.
