Disney Recalls Sleeping Bags, Magic Wands

Lead Found In Paint On Toys

POSTED: 4:42 am HST May 22, 2008

The Disney Store has recalled about 4,100 sleeping bags and 8,000 Tinker Bell wands because they contain paint that violates lead standards, according to news releases from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The "Pirates of the Caribbean" sleeping bags have lead in the paint on zipper pulls.

They have a cartoon pirate design of Davey Jones and Jack Sparrow on the front. Style number F1652B0003 is printed on the logo label inside the sleeping bags. Items with a skull design are not included in this recall.

They were sold exclusively at Disney stores nationwide from April 2007 through October 2007 for about $25.

Paint on the pearl beads in the flowers of the magic wands creates a hazard.

They wands are green and light up and sound when a button in the handle is pressed. The top of the wand has white plastic flowers, a green bow and a pin with Tinker Bell's face on it.

They were also sold at Disney stores from from April 2007 through October 2007 for about $13.

The CPSC said either toy should be taken from children and returned to the store for a full refund. However, no injuries were reported from either product.
