(Chaminade Athletics) - Chaminade University director of athletics Bill Villa announced Wednesday a three-year contract extension for women’s volleyball head coach Kahala Kabalis Hoke which now runs through December 2022.

“We found a gem of a coach in Kahala and her brilliance is contagious with her team and school community,” Villa said. “We are ‘Chaminade on the Rise’ and Kahala is one of the people responsible for the movement. I see her achieving many goals during her time at Chaminade and am very glad that she is with us.”

“It’s truly an honor for me to continue lead this program which, as an alumna, has a special place in my heart,” said Kabalis Hoke who was an All-PacWest outside hitter for Chaminade from 2002 to ’04. “It’s a blessing to be a part of this Chaminade ohana and I look forward to helping guide our young ladies to even greater heights in the coming years.”

Kabalis Hoke wrapped up her seventh year as head coach in 2018, a season that saw the Silverswords win 23 matches including 17 in the Pacific West Conference, both school records. The year culminated with a return to the NCAA Division II West Regional, the program’s first postseason berth since 2004. Five ’Swords were named to the All-PacWest Teams, the most since 2006.

Kabalis Hoke owns a career record of 102-91, just the second coach in team history who reached the century mark in wins and the only coach with a winning record with two or more seasons of service. She has also guided the program to a record-four consecutive winning seasons.

Off the court, she has emphasized academic performance with a team grade point average over 3.20 the last few years as well as participating in various community events.
