A locally made web series celebrates older characters in a unique way. "Triple Threat" is a web series that revolves around three mature women who become undercover detectives for an 80-year-old philanthropist. Think "Golden Girls" meets "Charlie's Angels!"

Gina Surles produces and stars in it. Surles is also a fellow with Creative Lab Hawaii, a state program that supports Hawaii's creative entrepreneurs. Her co-stars are also from Oahu.

The other lead actresses are Carolyn Taum and Consulina Wong, both of Honolulu, and the 80-year-old mastermind of the Triple Threat detective agency is played by Frances Ward, also of Honolulu. The recurring role of the young chauffeur-in-training is played by GwangCheol Seo of Kaneohe.

The first two episodes are online, and the next two will be coming out this spring. Episodes 3 and 4 introduced some new characters played by Larry Wiss, Alan Seabock, Christine Bondroff, Eden Lee Murray, Mark Ah Sing, Lisa Barnes, and Jason Clyde Swink.

The production received local support in the area of shooting locations: Ke Aloha Cafe, The Willows Restaurant, Koko Marina Center, Hawaii Real Estate Partners, the Mauna Luan Condominium Board of Directors, and Jason Clyde Swink.

The episodes were partially financed by funds raised in an IndieGogo campaign, and the remainder by Surles. Surles says funds are still needed for post production of editing and scoring.

The production is SAG-Aftra signatory and uses an all Hawaii cast and crew.  The director, Jeremy Johnson currently works in LA and graduated from the Academy of Creative Media, University of Hawaii Manoa.
