HONOLULU - Scientists from the Monaco are in Hawaii this week collecting coral showing abnormal growth in Kane'ohe Bay. That coral might be cancerous.

Research shows the rise in sea temperatures could be affecting the immune system of the some coral leading to the disease.

"Now we realize that if we go a little further and look at those microbes that are associated with corals, they're extremely important in the response to raising temperatures, for example," said one scientist.

The samples of coral they collect will be taken back to Monaco for further study.
