Getting back home from the thanksgiving holiday weekend is proving to be difficult for thousands of people nationwide.

A snowstorm in the Northeast canceled more than 1,700 US flights Sunday and 5,000 more were delayed-according to flight-tracking website Flightaware.
One passenger who was stuck at Charlotte-Douglas airport in North Carolina described the frustrations there.

Tom Federicksen said "crazy backed up lines, people insane, and people fighting to get in line, and everybody miserable and the flight attendants and the ticket agents, bless their heart, they're trying, but they're miserable too."

Early today, an additional thousand flights nationwide were canceled .
