HONOLULU - A female pedestrian was crossing the street going East bound when a van being operated by a male driver struck her while making a right turn onto Ward Avenue.

Police say the female pedestrian was not inside the marked cross walk when she was struck. The pedestrian tells KITV4 Island News that she was walking in the marked cross walk at the time. 

The pedestrian sustained a head injury and was taken to Queens Medical Center.

No alcohol was involved.

The driver of the van was an HPD employee.
