(Hawaii Athletics) - University of Hawai'i junior Cedric Byrd was among 11 receivers added to the Biletnikoff Award Watch List announced by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation. The award annually recognizes the outstanding receiver in college football.

Any player, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, slot back, and running back) who catches a pass is eligible for the award. UH junior John Ursua was named to the Preseason Watch List.

Receivers are periodically added to the watch list as their season performances dictate. After five games this season, Byrd ranks in the nation's Top 10 in four categories – receiving touchdowns (3rd, 6), receptions per game (5th, 8.0), total receiving yards (6th, 454), and total touchdowns (10th, 6).

The Los Angeles, Calif., native has a team-high 40 receptions and has found the end zone in four of five games this season with two multiple touchdown games. He had team-high of 11 catches each in wins over Colorado State and Navy and his 181 yards against the Rams were the most-ever for a player in his UH debut. Byrd is also tied for second on the team with seven catches of 20 or more yards.

The award recipient is selected by the highly distinguished Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group of prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers, Biletnikoff Award winners, and other former receivers.

The 2018 Biletnikoff Award winner will be presented live on December 6, 2018, on The Home Depot College Football Awards Show to be broadcast 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. EST on ESPN. College and pro football hall of famer Fred Biletnikoff will announce the 2018 Biletnikoff Award winner on the show.
