The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a Flash Flood Warning for the island of Maui until 1:00 p.m.
At 9:54 a.m., radar showed heavy rainfall over the southeastern slope of Haleakala from Ulupalakua to Hana. Rain rates were estimated to be about one to two inches per hour.
Low water crossings along Piilani Highway will become impassable, especially from Waiopae to Kipahulu and including Pahihi Gulch and Kalepa Gulch.

This warning replaces the Flood Advisory that was in effect for the island of Maui in Maui County. This warning may need to be extended beyond 1:00 p.m. if heavy rain persists.
