Main break closes Kamehameha Hwy and Sunset Beach Elementary
Kamehameha Highway will remain closed at Haleiwa Beach Park, due to a water main break.
HALEIWA, Hawaii - The Board of Water supply is responding to a 16" main break near Haleiwa Beach Park, reported at 12:30 Thursday morning.
Kamehameha Hwy is closed in both directions and there is no access to Haleiwa town from Sunset Beach. Sunset Beach Elementary is also closed due to the break.
Motorists are advised to take the Haleiwa Bypass, HPD says that's where they are rerouting traffic. Officials are asking those on the road, to avoid the area unless absolutely necessary.
Per TheBus.org, Routes 52, 55, 88A, no service in both directions on Kamehameha Hwy. from Haleiwa Rd. to Joseph P. Leong Hwy.
Water service from Haleiwa up the coast through Sunset Beach may be either off or at reduced pressure. Residents are asked to conserve water.
Parents are advised to contact Sunset Beach Elementary school concerning classes for tomorrow.
