A Hawaiian monk seal pup has been having a tough time lately.

The Hawaii Marine Animal Response team has had to help the four month old out three times in the past few weeks.

The first time he was reported to have a fish hook caught in his mouth. A vet didn't find anything wrong and he was returned to the water.

Then about a week ago, his eye was glued shut by a sea cucumber, which is a snack for monk seals. That cleared up on its own.

But yesterday, he was found with a fishing line wrapped around his neck.

Response team crews were able to cut him free. They want to thank everyone for keeping an eye out for marine life and say if you see anything wrong with an animal to call their hotline at 888-256-9840.
